The Best Lego Sets For Girls of 2023

Here are 30 excellent Lego sets for girls to consider.

LEGO Friends Heartlake City Amusement Pier

Plenty Of Play Value

New for 2020, this set features a ghost ship mini roller-coaster, a spinning swing set, five figures, and many other playable, amusement park themed elements. It’s nice that so many mini-figures come with this set because there will be plenty of people for your child to put on the rides.

We like that it’s easy to build, but there are also multiple items that offer plenty of ongoing play opportunities especially in role-playing and imaginative play. There are so many tiny details to discover that this isn’t a build-it and forget-it type of set.

LEGO Disney Princess Elsa's Magical Ice Palace

Ice Blue and Sparkly

Princess Elsa’s magical ice palace features a revolving staircase, a sliding bridge into the castle, and a little playground on which the Olaf, Elsa, and Anna figures can play with the four Snowgies included in the set. With unique pieces not available in other sets and the beautiful colors of the design, your little girl should love this set.

There is also a three carriage sleigh on which the figures can ride and a marshmallow figure you can build out of blocks. This is an excellent set for recreating Frozen movie scenes or creating Frozen adventures of your own.

LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox

Stem Sensation

This Boost set contains 847 pieces that can be used to build five different robot toys, which means this is a highly versatile set.

For the robotic functions, you have to download the free LEGO Boost app to a smart device. The app uses simple graphics that you drag and drop to create a sequence that your robot will then perform.

An excellent introduction to robotics and programming, the Boost creative toolbox is labeled as being for 7 to 12-year-olds, but the adults in our family had just as much fun with it as the kids did.

LEGO DUPLO Town Big Fair

Big Fun For Tiny Tots

One of many excellent sets in the LEGO Duplo “My Town” line, the town big fair features a Ferris wheel with three cars, a four-horse merry-go-round, a double wavy slide, a train, a refreshment stand, and even a washroom.

Five figures are included, and rather than having small accessories like LEGO sets for older children, Duplo has large blocks with pictures printed on them, which in this case include ice-cream cones and juice cartons.

Your little builder, who can be as young as 2 years old to safely use this set, can enjoy hours of imaginative play.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Townhouse

Big Fun For Little Ones

We’re huge fans of the Creator 3-in-1 sets because they provide instructions for three different models, demonstrating many different ways to build. This is especially useful for new builders who may be a little unsure of their abilities or those who struggle to imagine their own models.

The 3-in-1 townhouse set has instructions for a toy store with an apartment above it and a rocket ride outside. It also includes instructions for a cake shop with cakes and an outside eating area, and a florist with flowers, birds, and a skylight.

LEGO Friends Friendship Bus

Journey To Adventure

The friendship bus is a bus like no other. This bus has a swimming pool that slides out from under the bus and a raised bed for budding LEGO gardeners to grow their favorite vegetables. A slide lets you get off the bus when the stairs seem dull, and a well-equipped onboard kitchen is great for rustling up snacks.

There are six beds under the retractable roof so your mini-figures can sleep under the stars, but they may want to stay up all night gazing at the sky through the telescope. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself getting jealous of the mini-figures who are living their best life in this set.

LEGO Trolls World Tour Raft Adventure

Fabulous Accessories

Recreate scenes from the Trolls World Tour movie with the Lonesome Flats raft adventure set, which is designed for children ages 4 years and up.

The set is an easy build for beginners with larger pieces and simple instructions. The raft isn’t designed to float, but it doesn’t have any parts that could be damaged by water, so it would be fine in the bath.

It also features Poppy and Hickory mini-figures in exclusive country outfits and a Branch mini-figure you won’t find anywhere else.

LEGO Disney Belle’s Storybook Adventures

Travel Toy

New for 2020 is a range of collectible storybooks that open up to reveal a micro-world with a mini castle build and miniature figures. These are great for keeping the kids entertained while on vacation or for bringing a portable travel toy to someone else’s house.

In this case, the storybook is yellow, the castle is in the style of the Beast’s castle, and the figures are Belle and the Beast. There are also Mrs. Potts, Chip, Cogsworth, and Madame de la Grande Bouche figures so your child can create their own fairy tale.

LEGO Friends Heartlake City Hospital

For Budding Medics

Dr. Maria is the physician in residence at the Heartlake City Hospital. She cares for her patients using the set accessories, including the buildable scanner for those hi-tech diagnostics.

Emma and Ethan are included in the toy physician set, one of which can drive the ambulance while the other one reclines on the stretcher in the back.

Brimming with possibilities, this is not just an excellent set for general play, but it is also fabulous for kids who may want to work through their worries about medical treatment. It’s also a good choice for kids who have a mom or dad who works at a hospital.

LEGO City Donut Shop Opening

Flexible Play

Build the donut shop opening set, and you’ll have two stores, a TV station reporter’s van, a construction truck with a crane trailer on the back, a coffee cargo bike, and more. We especially like that this one has ten mini-figures. That’s more than enough for all the scenarios your child will want to play out.

The set scenario is that a new donut store is having a grand opening, complete with local TV coverage. But that is one of an endless number of scenes that can be created and played out with this cool LEGO build that is rated for 6 years and older.

LEGO Frozen II Elsa’s Jewelry Box Creation

A Place For Treasures

This set feels like a LEGO-craft kit hybrid as it contains everything you need to build a 9-inch-high Disney Frozen jewelry box, complete with a mirror and lockable drawer.

It features a tiny turntable on which the Elsa and Nokk figures included with the kit turn. It also contains two cute little Frozen rings.

Decorated with LEGO gems and icy blue elements, the finished jewelry box is pretty enough to be a permanent feature in your little one’s room. All of the pieces are compatible with other LEGO sets.

LEGO Friends Heartlake City Hair Salon

Fun With A Bang(s)

For lots of role-playing fun, it’s hard to beat the Heartlake City Hair Salon.

One of the Emma and Nina mini-figures can enjoy a coffee and cookies during her tea time while the other sets about doing her new “do.” We begin at the clamshell sink, then move onto the mirrored styling area where your child can swap out different hairstyles for the right look.

Then sit your figure under the dryer before they pay their stylist and head out with their new look. The set includes tiny shampoo bottles, hairspray, scissors, and hair accessories.

LEGO Duplo Minnie’s Birthday Party

Pink Party

Minnie Mouse fans should adore Minnie’s birthday party set, which features a Duplo Minnie Mouse dressed head to toe, or should that be head to paw, in pink. Her trusty feline friend, Figaro, also comes along for the ride.

Minnie can drive around in her big pink car with room on the back for Figaro and a gift. Then, when she reaches the party, Minnie can take a peek through the window for a glimpse of her giant birthday cake.

LEGO Ideas Women of NASA

Inspirational Bricks

This is a set of three LEGO builds featuring women who have had a significant impact on NASA’s work.

Nancy Grace Roman comes with a posable Hubble telescope model and a mounted image of a planetary nebula. At the same time, Margaret Hamilton sits next to a stack of book-like pieces that represent the multiple books of listings of onboard flight software source code she wrote for the Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC).

The set is rounded out by a space shuttle Challenger model flanked by Mae Jemison and Sally Ride.

LEGO Hidden Side Mystery Castle

Augmented Reality

With LEGO Hidden Side models, not only can you play with the models you build, but by downloading the free LEGO Hidden Side app, you can enjoy augmented reality adventures. If everyone in the family downloads the app, you can all play together.

In the case of the mystery castle, this includes finding hidden items, hunting ghosts in the haunted digital world, and solving exciting mysteries. Each time you find a ghost, it is added to your inventory and will appear in subsequent adventures.

LEGO Friends Beach House

Feature Filled

Fun in the sun is the focus of the LEGO Friends beach house, where your mini-figures can relax in the hammock, eat lunch on the covered patio, nap in one of the upstairs bunks, or enjoy some music on the DJ party deck.

A dock extends over the faux waterfront, which is a great launch point for the mini catamaran. Once at “sea,” you can investigate sea-life or go overboard with your flippers for a snorkeling adventure. For girls who love the water and everything that’s coastal-related, this might be a good set.

LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian Razor Crest

Out Of This World

LEGO’s partnership with Disney has brought us many unique sets, but few are as great to build and fun to play with as the Mandalorian Razor Crest.

The dual-cockpit, fold-down cargo hold, and detachable escape pod are ideal for both recreating your favorite Mandalorian scenes and creating your own unique adventures.

There are four LEGO mini-figures: The Mandalorian, Greef Karga, Scout Trooper, and the Child. There’s also an IG-11 LEGO figure, and all five come equipped with the weapons they need to fight the inevitable battles.

LEGO Duplo Elsa and Olaf's Frozen Tea Party

Tiny Tea Time

If you have a little Frozen fan, who is not yet old enough for the regular LEGO sets, don’t fret. LEGO Duplo has your back with this tea party set that’s sure to spark imaginative play in your little one.

Elsa and Olaf have their own castle in which they can sit and enjoy tea, cakes, and a platter of blue and white cookies.

While your child is having fun, they will also be developing their fine-motor skills, spatial awareness, and hand-eye coordination. And then there are the benefits of imaginative play, creative thinking, and fun.

LEGO Friends Baking Competition

Cooking Up Fun

Fans of all kinds of cooking and baking shows will adore this TV studio set-up that features a presenter stage flanked by two workstations, complete with sinks, hobs, and ovens.

Your child can be the contestants, judge, camera person, and audience as two bakers vie for a big gold trophy prize and a check for $100,000.

The spinning cake at the top of the stage allows you to choose your baking theme. The set is packed full of cake decorating accessories, including a tiny flame and fire extinguisher for those times when it all goes wrong.

LEGO Disney Aurora’s Forest Cottage

Not So Sleepy

Sleeping Beauty gets the LEGO treatment in this set for builders age 5 and older.

Her cottage is recreated in a combination of LEGO bricks and larger, pre-formed panels that make it simple to build, even for those who are new to LEGO.

Aurora’s cottage has two stories, and when you spin the water-wheel, “sparks” pour from the chimney. Sleeping Beauty can enjoy the company of her animal friends, but they all need to be on the lookout for Maleficent, who waits for them on the rustic bridge.

LEGO Ideas Central Perk Building Kit

The One With The Bricks

Rather than the LEGO Friends line featuring characters in Heartlake City, this Friends set features a homage to the cast of the television show Friends.

In the set, there is everything you need to recreate the studio set of Central Perk, the iconic coffee shop where Ross, Rachael, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe spent so much of their time.

All six characters are represented by exclusive-to-set mini-figures, and Gunther rounds out the cast. Packed with accessories to recreate multiple scenes, this is a gift for LEGO or Friends fans alike.

LEGO Friends Summer Fun Water Park

Makes A Splash

New for 2020, LEGO Friends has introduced the Heartlake City summer fun water park in which LEGO Friends characters Mason, Stephanie, Olivia, and Emma enjoy all the fun of a day at their local splash zone.

The park base has a three-story building from which three slides of differing heights and styles make their way into the pool. Next to the pool, there’s a shower and a changing room, and in case the girls need refueling, there’s a treat-packed ice-cream truck.

Other items in the set include a hot tub, a unicorn floaty, a lifeguard station, loungers, water cannon, and more.

LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Astronomy Tower

Wizarding Fun

Use the eight mini-figures to explore Ravenclaw dormitory or take a peek at the Mandrake in the greenhouse. The Potions master, Horace Slughorn, has his classroom in the building, and you can hang out there or at his party before climbing the stairs of the tower.

Once at the top, it’s time for an astronomy class, complete with telescope and star charts.

With Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Horace Slughorn, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, Draco Malfoy, Lavender Brown, and Hedwig in the set, it’s easy to recreate scenes and enjoy open-ended play.

LEGO Disney Cinderella’s Castle Celebration

Learn To LEGO

Large modular pieces are combined with regular LEGO blocks in this Cinderella’s castle set to create a simple build for children 4 years and up. The build not only provides a fun play piece when completed but also a huge confidence boost for beginner builders.

The small but cool castle includes a beautiful fireplace and a washroom that provides everything Cinderella needs to get ready for the ball.

A second piece provides a party area with an arch, flags, birthday cake, and stand where Conders can enjoy spending time with Lucifer, Bruno, and the mouse.

LEGO DOTS Jewelry Box

Design Creativity

Asking our youngest daughter what she thought were the best LEGO sets for girls brought up some suggestions I almost missed. One of those suggestions was the LEGO DOTS jewelry box.

The LEGO DOTS collection blends building and artistic expression for a line that appeals to arts and crafts fans. The sets come with pieces shaped like a pie cut into quarters. These pieces can be used for decoration following suggested patterns or creating designs of your own.

LEGO Friends Jungle Rescue Base

Rescuing Playtime

The jungle rescue base combines the familiar LEGO Friends theme with a mom and baby elephant, a pair of sloths, and a multi-tree treehouse for a thrilling journey into wildlife rescue.

Use the brick-built drone in one part of the treehouse to seek out animals in need of help. Then ride to their rescue on the quad bike. Once they return to base, budding vets can use the well-equipped animal care center to give them first aid.

A washroom is hidden behind one tree trunk, and a separate unit houses beds for the mini-figures.

LEGO Disney Rapunzel’s Tower

Well, Drop My Hair

Fans of Disney’s Tangled will be incredibly excited for the Rapunzel’s Tower LEGO set, which features a four-room tower with a balcony from which Rapunzel can let down her hair.

A touch more challenging than the 4 and older sets, this is recommended for children 6 years and older. The tower is made up of molded parts that fit together while the two separate builds are all brick. This combination is an excellent way for builders to transition into more detailed builds without being overwhelmed.

LEGO Friends Emma’s Fashion Shop

It Measures Up

There are two stories of fun in Emma’s fashion shop. Downstairs in the store, there’s a mannequin, a changing room, and a style spinner that helps you mix and match outfits. Upstairs, there’s the tailor’s studio where clothes are designed and made.

The two floors can be separated and used independently or side by side, although bringing the upstairs down to floor level might ruin the balcony’s view.

Plenty of imaginative play opportunities combine with a frustration-free build to create one of the best LEGO sets for girls.

LEGO Disney Frozen II Enchanted Treehouse

Ice And Stones

Help Anna, Mattias, and Olaf as they explore the enchanted forest from their treehouse.

Your little one can create endless scenarios in which the characters fish, swim, explore, and discover the fabled ancient stones before going back to base in the evening for supper at the table.

Discover the flying fish trap, go fishing by the waterfall and cook your catch on the grill, or maybe go for a trip on the zipline that takes you down into the woodland nook.

Whatever stories your child creates will be filled with adventure.

LEGO Friends Juice Truck

The Sweetest Set

We adore the Friends juice T=truck because of its simplicity.

Rather than building from scratch, you can put this camper van turned refreshment-mobile together with only four pre-formed pieces. Then, snap on the wheels, and you’re good to go.

The set comes with two mini-figures, a momma and baby dolphin, various fruits and juicing equipment, and there’s a lounger sitting under a palm tree.

There’s no need to worry about your child growing out of this one, either. Like all other Friends sets, it is fully compatible with other LEGO bricks and sets. Consequently, this can still be enjoyed long after your child has moved onto more complicated builds.

How Will My Daughter Benefit From Playing With LEGO?

Building models with LEGO is an excellent way to improve or work on fine motor skills.

Constructing a predesigned model will demonstrate the importance of following instructions and paying attention to detail as well as improving focus and concentration. Your child will learn the value of organization, build a tolerance to frustration, and discover how and when to ask for help.

When a child builds their own models, they will reap similar benefits. Your child will also experience the joy of creativity and the boost in self-confidence that goes with it.

Finally, LEGO has teamed up with National Geographic Kids to bring us sea life sets to teach children about endangered species and explore how to help save ocean habitats. It can be a powerful learning tool for kids.

What Age Is Appropriate For LEGO?

LEGO produces the DUPLO line for ages 2 and older. Regular LEGO sets have different age recommendations for each model, depending on how complex they are to build.

So, you could buy a 14+ or 16+ set for an experienced 10-year-old LEGO builder. But a 10-year-old child who has never built before would be better off with a 6+, 7+, or similar age range set.

How To Choose the Best Lego Sets For Girls

The best way to choose a LEGO set is to consider a child’s interests. So, if your little one likes vehicles, look for a set like Angela’s Car and Stage in the Friends line or the Racing Cars set in the City line.

Or, if your child likes animals, choose a set like the Friends’ Jungle Rescue. If your child is a fan of Frozen, Marvel, or Harry Potter, choose a themed set that is appropriate for their age and skill set.

Building Confidence

Putting together a LEGO model teaches a child so much. From how to follow instructions, take one thing at a time, and have patience, to spatial awareness, math, and engineering concepts, the benefits of LEGO are considerable.

Few toys offer the opportunity to create something from scratch and then safely explore the world in the way LEGO does. Consider choosing one of our best LEGO sets for girls and seeing where it takes your child.
